Restringings Done While You Brouse. No Appointment Necessary.
Every instrument needs new strings, adjustments, or sometimes a minor or major repair. Luckily, Guitar Works employees have the knowledge and experience to diagnose and correct any problems you might have with your instruments in a timely way and at a fair and competitive price.

RESTRINGING WHILE YOU BROUSE!! Putting off restringing your instrument because you don't have the time, knowledge, tools or a work bench? Don't fret, bring your re-stringing by anytime and we will do it while you browse around our store or Carytown! Total costs, strings and labor for most acoustic and electric 6 string guitars is $15., 12 Strings $20., and Electric Basses $30.

MINOR REPAIRS Sometimes these problems are pretty easy for us to just give you a twink or two and you are on your way. If the work required is a little more demanding than that, generally we complete these repairs in a day or two.

MAJOR REPAIRS Jason and Tom are both very skilled and organized craftsmen and above the norm in doing their work in a timely way. We have an almost zero return rate on our repair work (they get it right the first time) and about the only thing that can slow them down is waiting for stuff to dry or waiting for special order type parts.

We love guitars and all freted instruments and want to help you enjoy yours at its highest potential.
About our M.A.S.H Unit
Guitar Works, Inc owner and founder, Brian Medas heads up our musical instrument repair M.A.S.H. unit and the elves that set-up and adjust the Guitar Works, Inc. instruments. With 30+ years experience, Brian has worked on over 100,000 instruments during his tenure. We think he holds an unofficial re-stringing world record of 2 minutes, 38 seconds! Now that's fast! For most music stores, minor repairs and re-stringings are considered annoyances, and you will usually get the dreaded "Can You Leave It With Me" response. What a hastle! Not at Guitar Works, Inc. these types of repairs are usually routine.
If you sense your instrument isn't playing correctly, or you think it sounds a little off, you are probably right. Changes in the weather from hot to cold, dry to humid, and visa versa can knock it out of adjustment or deaden the strings. Additionally, many fretted instruments of various price ranges are not built right, set up, adjusted or intonated correctly, or not even at all! Bring your instrument by anytime during store hours. There is no need for an appointment. If you have any questions feel free to write: Contact@guitarworksinc.com
or call us at (804)358-0855.

TIPS ON CARING FOR YOUR INSTRUMENT
Quite often someone will come in with an instrument and say, "There is something wrong with this guitar: it won't tune." Generally the cure is two fold. Firstly, the strings have gone dead. Over time, usually 30 days or more, moisture in the air and the oils and acids in our skin damage the strings completely. Secondly, the strings are not attached correctly at the tuning gear and are slipping.
Bring your best friend by Guitar Works, Inc. anytime. No appointment is needed for a quick re-string. This repair generally takes less than 10 minutes. Shop while you wait.
Proper set-up, adjustments, and intonation are all paramont for proper playability. Every instrument, new or used, sold at Guitar Works, Inc. goes through a 12 point check process. You won't find cheap guitars in a box pushed out the door around here!!
Setting The Intonation
Setting the Intonation on an instrument is a breeze if you have a strobe tuner and 30 years experience. What? You have neither? No problem. Bring your instrumet by Guitar Works, Inc. anytime, and we will bring it to the next level. No appointment is necessary, and these repairs usually take about 1 day.
Good Question
Question: Is there a proper place for installing a strap button?
Answer: Yes, most definitely. Right here as seen in the picture. Placing the button on the under side of the neck helps a couple of things. First, the side of the neck provides the solid wood needed for a secure fastening of the wood screw. Second, the instrument will hand down in a comfortable position. If you add the button up closer to the fingerboard, the instrument will tilt forward. If drilling a hole in your guitar makes you a little squirmish, bring it by Guitar Works, Inc., and we will take care of it for you. It's usually $5 and takes about 1 minute.
Fun...Good Question
Question: Is it OK to leave my guitar out in the snow?
Answer: Well, we would not recommend that, but it brings up a good subject. You must pay attention to the humidity levels during the winter. The perfect enviorment for wood musical instruments is 70 degrees and 50% humidity. During the winter months, both the temperature and humidity levels drop. With furnaces constantly running, the humidity drops even more indoors causing wood to shrink and crack.
The cure is to use instrument and room humidifiers to keep that humidity up around 50%.
