So how does it work? A General Outline Of Rock Camp Summer Sessions: |
Our 2010 Rock Camp Summersessions are scheduled for one week sessions the weeks of July 5th through August 27th. Each group meets Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with instructor Jay Mullens (if filled, a second session may be made available at an earlier or later time). Each group is made up of 3-6 students with similar playing ability. During the session week each group learns to play 2-3 "Classic Hits" which they then perform in an outdoor mini-concert at Guitar Works on Friday at 12:00 noon. During the week, students learn the importance of individual practice and memorization of their parts, and how to prioritize their time and rehearse effectively. Teamwork, critical listening, and presentation are emphasized, so that each musician gains confidence and carries this process into future bands and musical projects. Many of our "campers" have formed bands from the contacts made here, performing in school talent shows, restaurants and other venues in the area! |
